Twelve Days of Fright
Mary Beth had twelve apples
I do believe she ate eleven of them
which isn't nessecarily bad of course
if a young girl is dying to eat as much as a horse
to gorge herself until she explodes
and meets a terrible end
David had eleven pairs of shoes
he only wore two, if I do recall
and who can blame a young frightened boy
who has a larger than life monster
residing under his bed
who was feeling quite peckish
Nick had ten pots of coffee
he swears up and down that he had more
it's just the zombies in the basement were getting rather rowdy
and since there were no brains to eat
he refused to give them from his very own head
luring in strangers with folgers instead.
Darren had nine packs of ciggarettes
which was lowered to six
and he hasn't smoked a one
but ghosts can't always amuse themselves
with knocking all his china off the shelves
and so it was a simple trade
cancer sticks to halt poltergist cherades.
Mike had eight daughters
bright of eye and lovely as could be
they were intelligent and easy to laugh
one night fanged strangers arrived on his step
demanded the young sirens forcibly
but he would not give them away so easily
to this day he will not tell
where he procured his living room rugs
their mouths are frightful
but the pelts are sleek
Dane had seven candlesticks
he lit them night after night
a wise woman had told the length of their light
would foretell the span of his life
too bad the old bat couldn't tell him straight
that when the wax ran out
so would his days
but all mistakes are soon forgiven
Dane is lying in a coffin
and the oracle is no longer livin'.
Orri was the victim of six bullies in school
he ignored their insults
swatted back their ridicule
They started out a group of many
but lately it seems
that they've been dissapearing
and rumors of fiends
with fangs, swathed in fur have spread like wildfire
Meanwhile, dear Orri has been wearing his biggest smile.
There were five more stories yet to behold
cinco more tales that have yet to be told
but that, dear friend, is for another time
if it doesn't happen now, it will
to countless people
torturous and strange ordeals
and then you can easily grasp paper and pen
and spin these awful yarns again.
So Merry Christmas one and all,
may your bouts of terror and worry be small
if not, why, all the better for me!
